11Apr2019_Music Tomorrow - finale del concorso "Breaking Music"
Although I've known, how crazy my travelling schedule was!! I came back my home in Tokyo after the premiere with Divertimento Ensemble, and I stayed for 4 days. Then, I flew again.
My new piece "5 Images-In Nomine" for 6 musicians will have its world premiere by Syntax Ensemble at the Music Tomorrow - finale del concorso "Breaking Music" of which I was one of the finalists.
ディベルティメントアンサンブルとの初演のあと、1度東京にもどって4日間家にひきこもっていた(もちろん、作曲のため)のですが、その後またミラノに。
ミラノの新しいアンサンブルSyntax Ensembleのコンペのファイナリストの1人として、新作《5 Images-In Nomine》が初演されました。去年作曲した《"イマージュ"について考えるための7つのスタディ》を6人版に拡大したような作品ですが、1月にリコーダーアンサンブルの作品が初演された時にイン・ノミネという音楽があることを知り、いつか作曲してみようと思っていたので、その定旋律を5つのイメージのフレームワークとして取り扱いました。
For me, creation is to connect several things, which exist very far from each other and find a new way to make a relationship between them. Connected in my mind the Renaissance concept of “In Nomine” with the term “image” which appears in Henri Bergson's “Matière et Mémoire”, this composition “5 images-In Nomine” was created.
“In Nomine" was the title given in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries to a genre of instrumental compositions based on the Gregorian chant Gloria Tibi Trinitas. In this composition, the cantus firmus is held very freely as a framework on each of five pieces.
The term “image” which Henri Bergson means is still very difficult to understand for me. I’ve kept reading it and trying to find the nature of “image.” I am sure that thinking about what “image" means might give me new perspectives to construct sounds as energy and to construct time.

"È stata Yu Kuwabara, la giovane compositrice giapponese, a vincere il concorso internazionale di composizione "Breaking Music". Il brano, "5 Images - In Nomine" è stato apprezzato per "l'intensità e la nettezza delle immagini musicali e la congruenza tra la qualità degli eventi sonori la loro durata".
Congratulazioni a Tutti Kuwabara, che tornerà dunque nella programmazione della prossima stagione del #syntaxensemble.
The Japanese composer Yu Kuwabara wins the international composition contest "Breaking Music". The piece, "5 Images - In Nomine", was appreciated for "the intensity and purity of musical images and coherence between the quality of resounding events and their duration".
Congratulations to Yu Kuwabara, whose music will be performed again during the next Syntax Ensemble's season."
